Telugu association of scotland is an ethnic minority cultural organisation comprising telugu speaking people living in scotland(Originating from state of Andhra pradesh,India).Telugu association is a voluntary non-profit organisation representing and serving majority of Telugu community in Scotland from 2001.Founded in 2001 by eager Telugu speaking people wanting to promote goodwill at large, the Telugu Association of Scotland (TAS) was born.Based in Glasgow, TAS is a non-profit volunteer organisation. TAS was founded with a main objective of spreading the Telugu culture and literature amongst the Scotland Telugu community as well as other communities elsewhere in UK.
Telugu Association of Scotland conducts various events throughout the year which become a forum for Telugu people to meet each other.With a main objective to promote Telugu Culture, TAS has other goals such as:
To preserve, maintain, and perpetuate the cultural heritage of the people of Telugu origin in Scotland.
- To assist and propagate cultural, educational, social, economic, and community affairs of the people of Telugu origin in Scotland.
- To promote establishment of Telugu organisations in regions of Scotland where there are no such organisations.
- To organise periodic Telugu literary, cultural, and educational conferences throughout the Scotland region to promote the objectives of Assocation.
- To collaborate in the organisation of Telugu literary, cultural, and educational conferences in other countries.
- To foster friendship and understanding among Telugu people, and between people of Telugu origin and other people.
- To foster friendship and understanding among Telugu people, and between people of Telugu origin in other places.
- To help people who need information on various opportunities at Scotland.
- To raise, solicit, collect and disburse funds, charities, and donations for cultural, educational, and charitable purposes either directly or in cooperation with other not-for-profit organisations in the United Kingdom and abroad.
